ABHINAV MISHRA
Abhinav is an architect and a new media designer based in Ahmedabad. His practice explores habitat, interaction design, environments, tectonics, history and interfaces (tangible and otherwise). His current bucket of projects include Modular Prefab Architecture, Designing Visual (node based) programming Language for a Robotics Kit, New Media Art Installations, Virtual Reality Experiences, Video Game Environments and User Interface design.

AKASH SHARMA
Akash Sharma is an experimental artist working across visual art, data mapping, data manipulation, algorithmic compositions, and sensor-based music. He is founder of Sound.Codes, which researches music technology and provides solutions to music producers, artists etc., and has created several algorithms for sound processing and data manipulation.
In 2009, Akash founded and was producer & composer for ‘Traveling River Band’ – an experimental blues, acoustics, and folk band. In 2012, he led sound design for National Geographic Channel’s augmented reality series. In 2013, he explored, researched, and captured data on Adi Minyon - an obscure tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, in the Eastern Himalaya, stayed with them for an extended period, observing their traditions, rituals, and customs. He is currently cataloguing his findings, particularly on the tribal dance forms and disappearing tribal folk tales.
Meanwhile, at Sound.Codes, Akash also works on an initiative to preserve acoustic signatures of historic and heritage spaces in India, using one of his own algorithms to capture the impulse response of spaces. He is also passionate about exploring anthrophony.

BACCHUS BARUA
Bacchus is an Economist and Musician. He was featured as a creative representative of his generation on The Indian Documentary of Electronic Arts on two occasions (‘The IDEA’ is a project now mentored and stored by The Academy of Electronic Arts), performed on the same basis during the first iteration of CeC in 2006, and was part of the volunteer support staff for the subsequent iterations of the incident in 2007 and 2008. Bacchus currently lives in Vancouver (Canada) where he conducts research during the day, performs with his band at night, and occasionally thinks about the history and future evolution (?) of electronic and experimental arts. BAN CASPER MAWLONG
Ban Casper Mawlong is a young Computer Graphics artist who’s been passionate about moving images, frame by frame, since childhood. Turning his dream into a profession, however, was one of the most challenging parts of his career. A proven ability to develop a project from the earliest stage for pre-production—that is script, storyboard, animatics, 3d animations—was a boon for many start-up visual media houses. After a decade working with various 3d animation and VFX companies, he eventually set up his own production house, Cosmic Clusters, churning out 3d animation film ‘U Syiem', ‘Awake’, and also many music videos and ads along the way. Currently, he is working on E-Learning projects for the international market, and also on an in-house E-Commerce website focused upon delivering affordable animation for educational purposes.

Bettina Wenzel composes and develops vocal pieces and intermedia performances.Her compositions are a constant endeavour into vocal sounds, that reach beyond the limitations of the human voice. BRIAN WALLANG
“Brian sir is just not a headmaster but a true educationist. He inculcates learning through expression. A wholesome education including sports, art, music, fashion and dance. Every year he directs musicals, from the High School Musical to the Lion King to his original scripts that deal with teenage problems. He won the National BOLT Award in the year 2006 - 2007 which was presented by our Late President Dr. APJ Kalam at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Sir encourages us to be a part of the less priviledged children's lives by involving us in a lot of Social work programmes. He loves Mother Earth and gets us to recycle what ever we can especially in our craft classes. One of India’s internationally acclaimed musicians, co-founder of Indie band Parikrama, he has recorded & performed with various projects at venues across the world. Currently a member & producer on various projects - Think Floyd, Kuru Circus & Orchestra, ContraBand among others.
Off-stage, he is a multiple media technology expert and visual artist who manages and motivates his media lab with a motley mix of professional client projects, production design and ongoing experimentation with technologies.

DAMANG SYNGKON
Damang’s passions are traditional music, sports and organizing events relating to the two. Presently working in the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Damang is largely involved with the youth sector; organizing sporting competitions and empowerment programs at the village, block, district and state levels.
As a sportsperson himself, Damang represented India in Karate at the 14th Asian Games, 9th South Asian Games, and 3 world championships. As an indigenous Khasi musician, he organizes and performs traditional and fusion folk music throughout the state. He has written and composed various anthems for schools, colleges, and also the anthem for Indian League Football Team ‘Royal Wahingdoh’. In 2010, he’d represented India as part of a Youth Delegate team to China. He’s presently working on a folk album featuring various well known artists and diverse creative musicians of Meghalaya. His band member includes Maitphang Phanbuh, Real Lyngskor, Juban Kharumnuid, Iaishimti Riang, Shaphrang and Yvonne Syiem.
EUGENIA GORTCHAKOVA
Eugenia Gortchakova works with video, print, photo, and painting, investigating Time, Communication, Identity, and new media theories, with a common focus upon Philosophy. She studied philology and art history at the State University Moscow (1967-82), and participated in many biennials and festivals, including Videomedeja Novi Sad/Serbia 2015, German Days in St. Petersburg and Cheljabinsk/RU 2014, Sarajevska Zima 2014, Festival the Holiday of Holidays, Haifa 2013, the 5th Moscow biennial 2013, the 7th annual Carnival of e-Creativity, Graphic Triennial Vienna 2010/13, 49./51.Venice Biennials 2001/05, and been awarded various grants and awards through the course of her career.

GABRIEL GHEBREZGHI
Gabriel Ghebrezghi, better known as Ghostape, is an enigmatic and inspiring experimental electronic artist from Switzerland, who uses recorded sounds to create vivid soundscapes merging into abstract pop artefacts. Amongst other professional engagements on his last visit to India, in 2014, he mentored participants and composed music for the final performances of the annual Gati Summer Dance Residency, which supports emerging artists to engage with choreography.

HEMANT SREEKUMAR
Hemant Sreekumar has been dreaming since three decades and got involved with noise since 1986 when he started self-hypnosis using televison & radio static. He has no useful music skills and finds joy in embroidering coded computational processes to create sonic situations. These data sonification compositions deal with notions of measurement, decay, randomness & emergence.

JOBIN VIJAYAN
Jobin Vijayan has been passionate about electro-mechanical systems from a very young age. His major installations are at Regional Science Center and Planetarium, Calicut, where he designed and installed the electro mechanical systems for the Hall of Physical Endurance and the Astronomy gallery. He also headed R&D for a company which made electronic public toilets, and has designed architecture of industrial robots.
Over the period, his interests have shifted to Bio-mechanical systems, where he is researching on adaptive neural systems.
He is also specialized in astrophotography and telescope building. Keeping a strict old school approach in heart, he believes in designing electronic systems with least electronics, optimising for energy and space, and identifying and removing unwanted technologies from one's personal life.
Currently, he heads the India office of Arduino.

JULIA ROBERT-PARES
Júlia Robert-Pares graduated from the London Contemporary Dance School and obtained a post graduate in Physical Theater at the Royal Holloway University,
She then worked as a performer with Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company, with whom she was original cast in the company’s piece “Freedom” and toured internationally performing “Yesterday”, “7734” and “Justitia”.
She has also worked with other international artists such as Nuria Guiu, José Agudo, Vincent Montsoe, Nils Frahm, Guy Nader, Tom Dale, Jorge Crecis and ACE Dance and Music. Julia is currently working as a freelance dancer with Neon Dance (UK/Berlin) and UmmaUmma Dance (Barcelona).
Julia started working together with Rudi Cole in 2014, creating ‘The Masks Behind Doors’ (competition awarded) and outdoor piece ‘Nomadis’. In 2015 they established HumanHood and are currently creating their first full length piece entitle ‘Zero’, in collaboration with mix field artists, which will be premiered in 2016.

KARAN GURUNG
Karan Gurung is an experimental artist based in Northeast India .He enjoys doing work that is driven by the need to find creative solutions to everyday problems and challenges. He has been closely engaged with the problems of Northeast India; employing poetry, folklore, performance and photography to reflect and articulate issues (individual/political) that eclipse the strife-torn region. He has collaborated with artists across the board from different parts of the country making art, performances, and creating new creative bonds. He is also a Ph.D candidate from the Northeastern Hill University, Shillong, writing on the subject of "Orality and Identity" to explore the relationship between oral narration, memory, and authenticity.

KRISGATHA ACHMAD
Krisgatha Achmad is a Media Artist/Sound Designer/DJ based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Founded TRANSIT in 2001, and ROOMNO.1 Artspace 2004, which conducts Research & Development projects, for the most part. He also carries out collaborative projects with artists in various genres, making the most use of sound and video, combined with installation.
Krisgatha’s DJ career extends over fifteen years, including live performances in Indonesia with overseas artists such as Goth Trad, Budculture, and David Kennedy from Angels and Airwaves. He has also been invited to many overseas music festivals.
Other works have focused on projects; where he produced installations combining found objects, readymade items, and indefinable pieces, all incorporated with sound, and visuals. He often reinterprets a familiar phenomenon or topic through a different viewpoint and combines them into his work.

Lionel Dentan is always on the move as Da-saz.... from acoustic to electronic. this nouveau project,,, is about experimental electronic music.... it is often performed with visuals, and very often features dancer Namrata Pamnani. Da-saz has travelled a long way to find his destination, from jet lag released by Phat-Phishes records.... to what i play now.... there is a big difference.
But i believe in experimentation, trying new ideas, it is now formless, shapeless, just sounds and Ambient tones ,, floating around ,,,, like abstract art... you can decide what you hear,,, or imagine......... its not readyshaped for your mind......modular synth and abstract sounds

MATHIAS DURAND
Mathias Durand is a composer born in France in 1983. As a child, he learnt classical piano from his grand-mother. He started playing the guitar and songwriting at teenage, taking part in bands and concerts during high-school in Paris. Since 2005 he performs folk concerts as Math and the Letters, and releases a first album Broken Letters in 2008. From 2006 to 2010, he studies in the class of acousmatic music of Régis Renouard-Larivière in conservatoire Erik Satie, Paris 7e. In the summer 2009 he travels to Calcutta and gets initiated to Hindustani classical music by the vocal artist Santanu Bandyopadhyay. The next summer, they are touring in France, and record an album as a duet (Mood). He sings and plays guitar in Alacazas Jasey since 2001 and in the experimental septet IT since 2006. He played as a guitarist and pianist with the John Mitchell Fleet (Head on, 2012), Jospeh Leon (The Bare Awakening, 2013), and collaborates with plasticians, poets, and performers. He joins on electric guitar Tritha Sinha, Paul Schneiter and Tony Guinard in Tritha Electric in 2012. With Niktus, he founded the collective Satourne and organises an itinerant festival in the summers 2013 and 2014 in France. He composes music for performances, movies and documentaries and has an album to come in 2016, L'ARBRE.

MURIEL LAUREN
Muriel Laurent lives and works between south of France and Geneva, Switzerland. In 2003, she start her career in big brands of jewellery workshops in Paris. After four years of work in chain she decided to live the capital to restart her studies in the HEAD (Haute Ecole d’Art et Design Geneva). In 2010 she graduated from the Jewellery Design pathway. Awarded a place in the Design Incubator competition, to carry out her objective, to become a designer in her own right.
Between jewellery and contemporary art, Muriel Laurent is inspired by molecular design and living cells.

PAUL SCHNEITER
Paul Schneiter has been living in India since 2009, sharing his time between drumming duties for several Indian rock bands (Menwhopause, Tritha Electric), touring duties with The Ska Vengers as their live sound engineer, as well as setting up a vintage analog recording studio in New Delhi.
Katharas Recording Facility in New Delhi ought to be completed in January 2016, featuring the largest collection of vintage outboard in the country. The purpose of this project is to bring analog recording to India, which puts more emphasis on the musicians' performance rather than on editing and other post-production tricks. The result is a music which is alive, and truly unique!

POULOMI DESAI
Poulomi Desai is best known for her large-scale sound and photography installations that interrogate the politics of identity, listening and perception. Inspired by her post-punk theatre background, her tools are image-based, textual, performative and acoustic, traversing boundaries of physical location and structures of presentation. Her current pre-occupation investigates sacrilegious sound and vision through the machinations of her prepared, modified sitar, electronics, sirens, VLF and radio soundscapes, and slide projections, performing on the noise and free improviser scenes. Recent performances and installations include, Complicite Theatre, London Contemporary Music festival, Fort Process, Clandestino, Colour Out Space, Supernormal festivals and appearances at Cafe Oto. Commissions and exhibitions include, The Serpentine Gallery, The Photographers Gallery, Radio Arts, The Science Museum, INIVA, The Queens Museum (USA), The Oxford Gallery (India), Futuresonic UK and Souzouzukan 9001 Japan. Her work has been published in four books, Red Threads, Different, Terrorist Assemblages and Out of Place. She runs Usurp Art, an experimental tactical media artist-led space where she has curated over 100 exhibitions and events.

RUDI COLE
Rudi trained at and graduated from Northem School of Contemporary dance, UK in 2009. Professionally, he has worked with Compagnie Thor (Brussels, Belgium), for the creation and tour of Thierry Smits’ ’To The Ones I Love’. Also with Akram Khan Company (UK) performing in the companies production “Vertical Road” as well as in the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics.
Rudi has also worked with Jose Agudo, Vincent Mantsoe, Shawn Parker, Erwin Wauters, ACE Dance and Music, Guy Nader, Adam Young, Nuria Guiu. As a freelance dancer he is currently working with Adrienne Hart (Neon Dance) and Guido Sarli (UmmaUmma Dance).

SABINE HIMMELSBACH
Since March 2012, Sabine Himmelsbach is the new director of HeK (House of Electronic Arts Basel, Switzerland). After studying art history in Munich she worked for galleries in Munich and Vienna from 1993–1996 and later became project manager for exhibitions and conferences for the Steirischer Herbst Festival in Graz, Austria. In 1999 she became exhibition director at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe. From 2005–2011 she was the artistic director of the Edith-Russ-House for Media Art in Oldenburg, Germany. Her exhibition projects include ‘Fast Forward’ (2003); ‘Coolhunters’ (2004); ‘Playback_Simulated Realities’ (2006); ‘Ecomedia: Ecological Strategies in Today’s Art’ (2007); ‘Landscape 2.0’ (2009); ‘MyWar. Participation in an Age of Conflict’ (2010) and ‘Culture(s) of Copy’ (2011). 2011 she curated ‘gateways. Art and Networked Culture’ for the Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn as part of the European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 program. Her exhibitions at HeK in Basel include ‘Sensing Place. Mediatising the Urban Landscape’ (2012), ‘Semiconductor: Let There be Light’ (2013), ‘Perspectives on Imaginary Futures’ (2014), ‘Ryoji Ikeda’ and ‘Poetics and Politics of Data’ (2015). SHANKAR BARUA
Shankar Barua is curator and custodian of CeC, in his capacity as Managing Trustee of The Academy of Electronic Arts. He has been many things in life before coming around to this sort of stuff, including, adventure-travel writer & photographer, asst. editor and designer of magazines, illustrator, publisher, pack-shot photographer, well-digger & drought-relief worker, book-author, columnist, artist, musician, tea-taster, corporate consultant, advertising copywriter, public speaker, photography workshop leader, public relations professional, documentary anchorperson, product prototyper, film-maker, builder, and so on, and on. Whereas he continues to be some of these still, his primary goals presently have to do with promoting and empowering creative experimentation & innovation, on the back of the burgeoning evolution and spread of technology.
In regard to North East India, Shankar--who is obviously as old as the mountains--was taken from Shillong as a child in the mid-1960s, and then never returned to the NE for any significant period of time up until 2012, since when he has (temporarily) been spending about half his time based in Guwahati. Over this period, he has built an experimental bamboo house in the city, instigated and led 2 official Arts & Culture delegations from South Korea through Guwahati and Shillong, and also brought CeC to Shillong.

SHAZEB SHEIKH
As an independent curator with a focus on experimental practices and processes across human endeavour, I search for answers to questions within original frameworks of inter-disciplinary artistic research and production. Have also been actively involved in public space projects, as well as sub-cultural practices exploring the relationship between arts and culture. Most of my work is based in spontaneous creation and expression, often fusing new people to create unpredictable new situations and new collective imaginations of beauty and its future.
With diversified, almost schizophrenic, interests, my projects are usually designed as long-term impact programs, but most of them have come to meet each other. The value of the ‘experience’ is the corpus of my life and through all my attempts, this objective remains sacrosanct for myself, the artists I work with and the audience.
As a curatorial process, my projects are my canvas, and the multidisciplinary artists I work with are colours, tools, chemicals, that blend differently in different situations and combinations to produce differentiated experiences. And so, the chemistry between different artists and practices urge me to play blind, as unlocking the true potential of the unexpected is what I love the most. And maybe, this way, we will actually find the future in the present tense.

SIMON UNDERWOOD
Simon Underwood was a founder member and bass player of the post-punk experimental band ‘The Pop Group’. He has spearheaded numerous projects over the years including Africa 95, Lotte, Vienna Festival and Another World iS Possible Festival to name a few. He has worked with many record labels including ‘Omi Recordings’ with Talvin Singh, ‘Nation Records’ with Aki Nawaz and ‘More Rockers’ with Smith & Mighty and Roni Size.
His sound work has been focused on developing a mix of live performance and activism. Over the past ten years he has concentrated his practice on circuit bending and building DIY electronic instruments to be used in Free-Improv performances.
His current project ‘The Conspirators of Pleasure’ together with Poulomi Desai, is a freely improvising duo that seeks to bend all the rules, question the sacred and create extraordinary soundscape performances using twisted technology and prepared instruments. They have been collaborating in an array of sound, installation and web projects since 2001, when they established the Usurp Art Collective. Most recently they have contributed a composition to ‘Waywords and Meanings’ a unabridged musical version of James Joyce's famous text, Finnegans Wake due to be released early 2016.

SNEHAL THOMAS JACOB
Snehal Thomas Jacob is an experimental multi-disciplinary artist whose work ranges from fine art and graphics to electronic music. Thomas is the co-founder of Sound.Codes which researches in music technology and provides solutions to music producers, artists etc. and has worked on various composition and designs.
In 2013, Thomas started a collective, Square Routes, working on an album and helped with fundraising for various current issues around the time. Thomas has contributed extensively to the indie music and art. He enjoys working with mix media.

SURESH K. NAIR
Suresh K. Nair is a practicing experimental artist and Muralist born in Kerala, South India, he completed his studies from the Institute of Mural Painting, Guruvayur, Visvabharati University, Santiniketan, Film and Television Institute India, Pune and Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, United States.
He has exhibited his works in all Indian States and the USA, the UK, and the UAE; been involved in community art projects across India, and; is also a world traveller. Currently he is involved with making Public Art Projects in Varanasi and other Indian cities, with murals already done in Trivandrum, Cochin, Kottayam, Chennai, Pondicherry, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bodhgaya and Amritsar. Recently, he performed at TEDx IIT Banaras Hindu University on the theme of “Order in Chaos”.
Nair received the Elizabeth Green Shield Foundation Scholarship from Canada (1997), Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi State Award, Government of Kerala (2005), Indradugar Award from Calcuta ( 1998), Fulbright Fellowship from the Institute of International Education, USA ( 2014-15) and Earth Network Award from Washington (2015).
In 2007, Suresh K Nair reached Varanasi and started making experimental drawings based on sounds, Indian classical music, and dance. He is also interested in Calligraphy Traditions. He teaches too as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Painting, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University.
SURJIT (Bonbon) NONGMEIKAPAM
Surjit Nongmeikapam (Bonbon), born in Manipur, is amongst the young/pioneer choreographers & dancers in the field of contemporary dance in North East India. He earned a BA in Choreography from Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography and has worked with the Natya Stem Dance Company and Natya Maya (Bangalore) as a contemporary and traditional dancer. Surjit is formally trained in Kathak , Kalaripayattu, Manipuri dance, Contemporary dance, and the Thang-ta form of martial arts. But, he continues to learn new movement styles from different Gurus & Mentors, and performs with other choreographers and directors to experience different art forms and practices. He also works on Dance Therapies part-time for The Human to Humane Transcultural Centre for Torture Victims (H2H), for which he trained at Kolkata Sanved 2010. He has served and performed at international and national residencies, festivals, and collaborations, having toured professionally all over India and Internationally, including Switzerland, France, Singapore, Belgium, Japan, USA, UK and others.
He was in Zurich for the festival www.theaterspektakel.ch and research residency for 4 weeks supported by Pro Helvetia, New Delhi. His OneVoice was nominated for an award in the Theater Spektakel, Zurich 2013, and his Black Pot and Movement-Dance film was nominated for the Experimenta 8th International Festival of Moving Image Art 2013, India. AKASH SHARMA
Akash Sharma is an experimental artist working across visual art, data mapping, data manipulation, algorithmic compositions, and sensor-based music. He is founder of Sound.Codes, which researches music technology and provides solutions to music producers, artists etc., and has created several algorithms for sound processing and data manipulation.
In 2009, Akash founded and was producer & composer for ‘Traveling River Band’ – an experimental blues, acoustics, and folk band. In 2012, he led sound design for National Geographic Channel’s augmented reality series. In 2013, he explored, researched, and captured data on Adi Minyon - an obscure tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, in the Eastern Himalaya, stayed with them for an extended period, observing their traditions, rituals, and customs. He is currently cataloguing his findings, particularly on the tribal dance forms and disappearing tribal folk tales.
Meanwhile, at Sound.Codes, Akash also works on an initiative to preserve acoustic signatures of historic and heritage spaces in India, using one of his own algorithms to capture the impulse response of spaces. He is also passionate about exploring anthrophony.

Ban Casper Mawlong is a young Computer Graphics artist who’s been passionate about moving images, frame by frame, since childhood. Turning his dream into a profession, however, was one of the most challenging parts of his career. A proven ability to develop a project from the earliest stage for pre-production—that is script, storyboard, animatics, 3d animations—was a boon for many start-up visual media houses. DAMANG SYNGKON
Damang’s passions are traditional music, sports and organizing events relating to the two. Presently working in the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Damang is largely involved with the youth sector; organizing sporting competitions and empowerment programs at the village, block, district and state levels.
As a sportsperson himself, Damang represented India in Karate at the 14th Asian Games, 9th South Asian Games, and 3 world championships. As an indigenous Khasi musician, he organizes and performs traditional and fusion folk music throughout the state. He has written and composed various anthems for schools, colleges, and also the anthem for Indian League Football Team ‘Royal Wahingdoh’. In 2010, he’d represented India as part of a Youth Delegate team to China. He’s presently working on a folk album featuring various well known artists and diverse creative musicians of Meghalaya. Jobin Vijayan has been passionate about electro-mechanical systems from a very young age. His major installations are at Regional Science Center and Planetarium, Calicut, where he designed and installed the electro mechanical systems for the Hall of Physical Endurance and the Astronomy gallery. He also headed R&D for a company which made electronic public toilets, and has designed architecture of industrial robots.
Over the period, his interests have shifted to Bio-mechanical systems, where he is researching on adaptive neural systems.
He is also specialized in astrophotography and telescope building. Keeping a strict old school approach in heart, he believes in designing electronic systems with least electronics, optimising for energy and space, and identifying and removing unwanted technologies from one's personal life.

Júlia Robert-Pares graduated from the London Contemporary Dance School and obtained a post graduate in Physical Theater at the Royal Holloway University,
She then worked as a performer with Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company, with whom she was original cast in the company’s piece “Freedom” and toured internationally performing “Yesterday”, “7734” and “Justitia”.

Mathias Durand is a composer born in France in 1983. As a child, he learnt classical piano from his grand-mother. He started playing the guitar and songwriting at teenage, taking part in bands and concerts during high-school in Paris. Since 2005 he performs folk concerts as Math and the Letters, and releases a first album Broken Letters in 2008. From 2006 to 2010, he studies in the class of acousmatic music of Régis Renouard-Larivière in conservatoire Erik Satie, Paris 7e. In the summer 2009 he travels to Calcutta and gets initiated to Hindustani classical music by the vocal artist Santanu Bandyopadhyay. The next summer, they are touring in France, and record an album as a duet (Mood). He sings and plays guitar in Alacazas Jasey since 2001 and in the experimental septet IT since 2006. He played as a guitarist and pianist with the John Mitchell Fleet (Head on, 2012), Jospeh Leon (The Bare Awakening, 2013), and collaborates with plasticians, poets, and performers. Paul Schneiter has been living in India since 2009, sharing his time between drumming duties for several Indian rock bands (Menwhopause, Tritha Electric), touring duties with The Ska Vengers as their live sound engineer, as well as setting up a vintage analog recording studio in New Delhi.
Katharas Recording Facility in New Delhi ought to be completed in January 2016, featuring the largest collection of vintage outboard in the country. The purpose of this project is to bring analog recording to India, which puts more emphasis on the musicians' performance rather than on editing and other post-production tricks. Poulomi Desai is best known for her large-scale sound and photography installations that interrogate the politics of identity, listening and perception. Inspired by her post-punk theatre background, her tools are image-based, textual, performative and acoustic, traversing boundaries of physical location and structures of presentation. Her current pre-occupation investigates sacrilegious sound and vision through the machinations of her prepared, modified sitar, electronics, sirens, VLF and radio soundscapes, and slide projections, performing on the noise and free improviser scenes. Shankar Barua is curator and custodian of CeC, in his capacity as Managing Trustee of The Academy of Electronic Arts. He has been many things in life before coming around to this sort of stuff, including, adventure-travel writer & photographer, asst. editor and designer of magazines, illustrator, publisher, pack-shot photographer, well-digger & drought-relief worker, book-author, columnist, artist, musician, tea-taster, corporate consultant, advertising copywriter, public speaker, photography workshop leader, public relations professional, documentary anchorperson, product prototyper, film-maker, builder, and so on, and on. As an independent curator with a focus on experimental practices and processes across human endeavour, I search for answers to questions within original frameworks of inter-disciplinary artistic research and production. Have also been actively involved in public space projects, as well as sub-cultural practices exploring the relationship between arts and culture. Most of my work is based in spontaneous creation and expression, often fusing new people to create unpredictable new situations and new collective imaginations of beauty and its future.
With diversified, almost schizophrenic, interests, my projects are usually designed as long-term impact programs, but most of them have come to meet each other. The value of the ‘experience’ is the corpus of my life and through all my attempts, this objective remains sacrosanct for myself, the artists I work with and the audience.
As a curatorial process, my projects are my canvas, and the multidisciplinary artists I work with are colours, tools, chemicals, that blend differently in different situations and combinations to produce differentiated experiences. And so, the chemistry between different artists and practices urge me to play blind, as unlocking the true potential of the unexpected is what I love the most. SIMON UNDERWOOD
Simon Underwood was a founder member and bass player of the post-punk experimental band ‘The Pop Group’. He has spearheaded numerous projects over the years including Africa 95, Lotte, Vienna Festival and Another World iS Possible Festival to name a few. He has worked with many record labels including ‘Omi Recordings’ with Talvin Singh, ‘Nation Records’ with Aki Nawaz and ‘More Rockers’ with Smith & Mighty and Roni Size.
His sound work has been focused on developing a mix of live performance and activism. Over the past ten years he has concentrated his practice on circuit bending and building DIY electronic instruments to be used in Free-Improv performances.
His current project ‘The Conspirators of Pleasure’ together with Poulomi Desai, is a freely improvising duo that seeks to bend all the rules, question the sacred and create extraordinary soundscape performances using twisted technology and prepared instruments. They have been collaborating in an array of sound, installation and web projects since 2001, when they established the Usurp Art Collective. Most recently they have contributed a composition to ‘Waywords and Meanings’ a unabridged musical version of James Joyce's famous text, Finnegans Wake due to be released early 2016.

Suresh K. Nair is a practicing experimental artist and Muralist born in Kerala, South India, he completed his studies from the Institute of Mural Painting, Guruvayur, Visvabharati University, Santiniketan, Film and Television Institute India, Pune and Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, United States.
He has exhibited his works in all Indian States and the USA, the UK, and the UAE; been involved in community art projects across India, and; is also a world traveller. Nair received the Elizabeth Green Shield Foundation Scholarship from Canada (1997), Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi State Award, Government of Kerala (2005), Indradugar Award from Calcuta ( 1998), Fulbright Fellowship from the Institute of International Education, USA ( 2014-15) and Earth Network Award from Washington (2015).
In 2007, Suresh K Nair reached Varanasi and started making experimental drawings based on sounds, Indian classical music, and dance. He is also interested in Calligraphy Traditions. He teaches too as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Painting, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University.
SURJIT (Bonbon) NONGMEIKAPAM
Surjit Nongmeikapam (Bonbon), born in Manipur, is amongst the young/pioneer choreographers & dancers in the field of contemporary dance in North East India. He earned a BA in Choreography from Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography and has worked with the Natya Stem Dance Company and Natya Maya (Bangalore) as a contemporary and traditional dancer. Surjit is formally trained in Kathak , Kalaripayattu, Manipuri dance, Contemporary dance, and the Thang-ta form of martial arts. But, he continues to learn new movement styles from different Gurus & Mentors, and performs with other choreographers and directors to experience different art forms and practices. He also works on Dance Therapies part-time for The Human to Humane Transcultural Centre for Torture Victims (H2H), for which he trained at Kolkata Sanved 2010. He has served and performed at international and national residencies, festivals, and collaborations, having toured professionally all over India and Internationally, including Switzerland, France, Singapore, Belgium, Japan, USA, UK and others.
He was in Zurich for the festival www.theaterspektakel.ch and research residency for 4 weeks supported by Pro Helvetia, New Delhi. His OneVoice was nominated for an award in the Theater Spektakel, Zurich 2013, and his Black Pot and Movement-Dance film was nominated for the Experimenta 8th International Festival of Moving Image Art 2013, India. It was also screened at Dance and Film, the International Dance Film Festival 2015, in Japan. He was recently awarded the PECDA 2014 for his work NERVES.

CologneOFF nomadic - videoart in a global context –
Searching for an ideal form of presenting “art & moving images”
As a dynamic media art event context and nomadic festival project designed, programmed, curated and directed by Agricola de Cologne in the framework of Cologne International Videoart Festival, “CologneOFF nomadic – videoart in a global context” started in 2010, when he took the perception how the jury for his 6th festival edition (directors of 7 renown international festivals) was voting - just one video collected 4 votes showing the curators following strictly their individual curatorial point of view - as the basis for researching an (his) ideal form of (re)presenting videoart. The result is a flexible work in progress, a process incorporating the idea of a festival, not bound to a physical location, but travelling from one venue, country and continent to another presenting a hybrid type of mono-channel videos, which can be presented in the same way via screening, projection and installation. A dual system is forming the supporting frame-work - virtual (online) components (see links) – all videos, info & event updates online – juxtaposed with the physical component in form of networked screenings & exhibitions - Agricola de Cologne’s curatorial opinion juxtaposed with the curatorial opinions of 40 curators (40 countries) demonstrating the multi-facetted diversity of artistic and curatorial approaches - the active presenter juxtaposed with the passively consuming audience to be activated via interventions like lectures, panel discussions, artists talks, round table or workshops, not to forget the different types presentation forms, in total, an interactive context intending to link the audience, artists, curators and institutions by thinking and acting in new terms without any restriction.
About CologneOFF
10 years art & moving images
Founded in 2005 and unique in its kind, CologneOFF is based on the unconventional concept to be a festival without a static festival location but built on global networking instead, based on a growing collection of art videos to be expanded each year by realising a new festival edition, instead of organising each year again an event just for 3 days, based on a dual system of equal virtual and physical components, focussing on new and experimental artistic expressions, instead of following already known paths. All this gives its founder and director Agricola de Cologne all freedom to set through his ideas of encouraging artists to create "total art" works by using the multi-facetted medium of digital video.
In 2014, CologneOFF was realising its 10th festival edition celebrating 10 years exciting developments in the field of “art and moving images”

CologneOFF nomadic - videoart in a global context –
Searching for an ideal form of presenting “art & moving images”
As a dynamic media art event context and nomadic festival project designed, programmed, curated and directed by Agricola de Cologne in the framework of Cologne International Videoart Festival, “CologneOFF nomadic – videoart in a global context” started in 2010, when he took the perception how the jury for his 6th festival edition (directors of 7 renown international festivals) was voting - just one video collected 4 votes showing the curators following strictly their individual curatorial point of view - as the basis for researching an (his) ideal form of (re)presenting videoart. The result is a flexible work in progress, a process incorporating the idea of a festival, not bound to a physical location, but travelling from one venue, country and continent to another presenting a hybrid type of mono-channel videos, which can be presented in the same way via screening, projection and installation. A dual system is forming the supporting frame-work - virtual (online) components (see links) – all videos, info & event updates online – juxtaposed with the physical component in form of networked screenings & exhibitions - Agricola de Cologne’s curatorial opinion juxtaposed with the curatorial opinions of 40 curators (40 countries) demonstrating the multi-facetted diversity of artistic and curatorial approaches - the active presenter juxtaposed with the passively consuming audience to be activated via interventions like lectures, panel discussions, artists talks, round table or workshops, not to forget the different types presentation forms, in total, an interactive context intending to link the audience, artists, curators and institutions by thinking and acting in new terms without any restriction.

10 years art & moving images
Founded in 2005 and unique in its kind, CologneOFF is based on the unconventional concept to be a festival without a static festival location but built on global networking instead, based on a growing collection of art videos to be expanded each year by realising a new festival edition, instead of organising each year again an event just for 3 days, based on a dual system of equal virtual and physical components, focussing on new and experimental artistic expressions, instead of following already known paths. All this gives its founder and director Agricola de Cologne all freedom to set through his ideas of encouraging artists to create "total art" works by using the multi-facetted medium of digital video.
In 2014, CologneOFF was realising its 10th festival edition celebrating 10 years exciting developments in the field of “art and moving images”
